I have been is remission since Jan.2006. I have Graves and was wondering if it is possible to now be hypo? I have been feeling like I did when I was Hyper and on too much PTU.

Thanks for any and all help.

I have read that 20% of Graves' patients move into hyPOthyroidism.

Now, I don't know if this percentage is related to how high a person's TPOab's might have been (TPOab is Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody and
is a marker of inflammation - extremely high levels can be an indication of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis......some peeps can have Graves' and
Hashi's.....and they can start off with a hyPER period and then go hyPO......or they can vacillate between hyPER and hyPO).

Again, not sure if this little tidbit is related to the peeps that move into hyPOthyroidism after Graves' but I've
read about that 20% in more than one place (and definitely read Elaine Moore tell this to a number of people posting
questions on her Q&A forum)

I'm sure you know what you need to do now http://www.livingwithgravesdisease.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

It's entirely possible. Welcome to the Graves Disease forum. Many people with Graves had hypo/hyper swings prior to their diagnosis. And the same continues, even when you are in remission. I think that is why it is called "remission" instead of "cured".

I have been in remission as well, since Jan. 2007. Last labs were all well within normal range. And I feel pretty good. You will need current lab results to determine your current thyroid status.
