I'm taking calcium and mag pill with the hopes that my slow moving bowels would improve. They became quite sluggish almost a year ago now, which is when I felt an increase in HypO, and then I went on a generic levoT in Oct, but no great improvement-actually some palpitations, well then finally in April I started Unithroid with an increase to 112. I've had no reaction to that, will get my b/w soon. I feel fine, but the bowels are still slow. Any ideas? Earlier in the year I thought it could be the increased iron I was taking per Prenatals I had restarted in October. But I stopped that early this year and still having these issues. I'm started taking VitD due to deficiency 4g iu and thats why I offset with cal/mag.

I'm trying to recall if you have any later labs results than the Jan. 2010 labs? If so could you fix them and post them in your signature?

For me if my FT3 is lower than mid range, BMs are harder to happen even if I take Magnesium to help with this.

How much mag do you take? I take a 400 mg pill nightly and have no problem now. If I take 500 it seems to be a little too much.

I have not had my new labs yet will soon.

I am taking 400iu D3, 1000mg Calcium, 500mg Mag all in one. I've been taking mostly on since beg June. Although I've had the slower bowel process for what seems past year, cuz I blamed it on iron in prenatals previously, I think I have seen an increase in sluggishness since taking; which is why I had asked others if D3 can cause this. I'm not having real difficulty as is known with constipation, it's just not moving properly and I will get gas pain or other more often than usual becuz of it, I'm sure.

I remember someone linking this:

http://thyroid-disor...with_hashimotos

I just finished reading Dr. Ken Blanchard's and Mary Shoman's books about Hypothyroidism
and "Thyroid Power" by Dr. Richard Shames - at least one of them emphasized the importance
of drinking 64 oz. of water/day to ensure proper thyroid function.

Depends on what type of tea. Most tea has a dehydrating effect.

Dehydration can cause constipation. WATER is WATER. Not soda, not iced tea,not coffee.THOSE are diuretics. The human body is 60 - 70% water. When you don't replace the water that your body uses,it will take it from where ever it can.Including your colon. How gross does this sound.....you're dehydrated and your body needs the water and so it goes and looks around and say's hmmmm where can I get this water.....AHA! I'll take it from the colon,I'll reabsorb it. So now ones poops become dry,and it becomes uncomfortable to_go_ or you just can't go because your body has sucked all the water from your colon because it wasn't getting any from any where else. Not to mention that you are now a candidate for diverticulitis. That really sucks! Not something you would soon forget once you have had to deal with it.
8 glasses of water a day.......How many times have we all heard that?? There is a reason for it.
