OK, guys and gals Blaze needs your help once again!

After going to my PC Doctor and putting a call into my 'specialist' I'm finding out no-one knows anything about the symptoms I'm dealing with and how to treat them! I went to the Doctor site on here to find a new Doctor - seems most of the sites are outdated and the one site that worked for me doesn't have any listings for an Endocrinologist near me. Does anyone have a good 'Doctor finding site'? One that rates the Doctor would be great if you have one.

I live in northern Central Florida if anyone out there in thyroid hell has a wonderful Doctor they would like to share I would welcome any names and phone numbers - don't worry about what kind of insurance he or she takes that can always to changed to fit if need be.

Thanks once again to you super members for any and all help you may give - I'm kind of on my last nerve and don't know where to go from here! I came home and had a good cry for myself I was stupid enough to think I was going to get some kind of help today and when neither doctor stepped up to the plate - I lost it! Talk about emotions being out of control - mine are pretty well shot and I don't like the ideas that are starting to come to mind lately - they scare me!

I look forward to your answers,

Hi:

I don't think there are any good lists out there now to find a doctor for thyroid care.  Have you consider looking for an Internist that specializes in hormones?  That's what I did for myself back in 2003.  I went searching on the Internet and pulled up all doctors for thyroid care.  Search engines are a lot better now in 2017 than it was back in 2003, that's for sure.

Believe me I know how difficult it is to find a good doctor to work with us.  So many of us here at this forum and other thyroid boards have to see more than several doctors before finding the 'right' one to work with us to properly test and dose us with meds according to our Free T3 and Free T4.

Isabella Wentz (the thyroid pharmacist and author of 'The root cause') maintains a list of doctors who are likely to be thyroid-savvy:

The Stop the thyroid madness website offers some advice on how to find a good doctor:

Hopefully these links might prove helpful :)

Thanks guys and gals - mmztcass - I was just told by a nurse to look for an internist - I didn't know anything about specializes in hormones - I thank you for that. Here's my biggest problem - just so you understand - I live in what they call 'Horse Country' - they also label it 'Gods Waiting Room' - it's a beautiful place to live with all its ranches with its cows and horses running in the fields and its green grass and very little build up - that's one side of Ocala - the other side of the town is all 'Over 55yrs old Communities' [God's Waiting Room] - Lovely, lovely - right up until you need a Doctor, a dentist, or anything the Modern world offers! If I was back in New York I would pick up the yellow pages [ phone directory ] and have a doctor in a few minutes! Down here it's a different story - down here the Doctors like most of the people are old, out of touch, and waiting to die!

You noticed I never write a SMALL post - Aren't you glad I'm here [ sarcasm ]

Allies - Thanks for the listing I go check them out too - they give me that starting point I was looking for. I too hope they help. The first thing I have to do is change out my insurance. I did go looking for new doctors yesterday when I came home from going to my PC - primary care - doctor [ at least 85 yrs old and stupid - should have retired years ago] and he won't help me at all! Of course, I had to first have a crying spell for the first half hour! I hate my emotions begin so out of control!!! I've never been THAT kind of person! Pissy and a bitch - yes - a crier - never!

Well to me its still early - and I don't do anything without my coffee first. I'll let you know how it goes [ aren't you thrilled with that thought - more sarcasm ]

Thanks again,

Blaze

Hi:

Awesome lists Allie!  The ones I had were not good any more.

I have learned to read lab results of anything, not just thyroid, so I can be very proactive with my health care and in keeping everything in balance.  I am teaching this to my sons and husband.

I hope you can what you are looking for Blaze.   :o

Here's where I went today: I started with the Endocrine Society they're headquartered in Wash Dc. Here's a small write up about who they are - I'll follow up with their website so if anyone is interested they can go and read up about them:

The Endocrine Society is the world's oldest, largest, and most active organization devoted to research on hormones and the clinical practice of endocrinology, hormonal and thyroid diseases.

website: https://www.endocrine.org/about-us

Through them, I got a website where you can find the Doctors who belong and have studied at the Society. It's an international site you can find a Doctor near you at. Just put in your local information and what like of Doctor you're looking for.

Hormone Health Network:

website: I picked the one that would take you right to the 'find your Doctor' page but you can go to their home page and do a little reading about them....

http://www.hormone.o...endocrinologist

Hope this will help others find a well educate endocrinologist they can trust that will listen to their symptoms and act upon them and well as taking the needed tests and do the basic work ALL the other Doctors we've been going to have done.

Just a personal note: They even found 1 Doctor that's close enough for me to go see in this backwater hole I live in!

P.S. The website also says that these doctors are willing to sit down and teach you how to read your own lab results too.

Of course, I haven't been there yet so this is all speculation - good luck to anyone using this information - Please let me know how it works out!
